Quality of Life
Levitt Pavilion Dayton
Funds would be used to enhance the accessibility of our audiences to Levitt Pavilion Dayton, to include way-finding, storage, video wall upgrade, backstage improvements and addition of concession area, providing sustainability of this community asset that is providing access and inclusion to high caliber music through 50 free concerts every season. We have learned how the public uses this space, and these funds would help us to attract more people and deepen our community building.

Community Details
Coming out of the isolation from the pandemic, we saw the need for connection more than ever at Levitt Dayton in 2021, as our audiences grew to record breaking levels. The connections made on the Levitt lawn strengthen the fabric of our community and enhance the vibrancy of our urban core. Strangers become friends through conversations on the Levitt lawn that would not have happened due to lack of intersections. It is through this that we are gaining an understanding of one another. We are creating access to free high caliber music, which is creating inclusion to a live entertainment experience. This venue opened in 2018 with 33 concerts and 28,000 attendees. In 2019 we had 53 concerts and 58,000 attendees. We had over 65,000 people attend the 36 concerts in 2021. With an economic study done by the University of Dayton, Levitt Dayton has contributed $3 million in economic impact to the urban core of Dayton, spent in local businesses surrounding the venue and supporting the economic development of the urban core. Levitt Pavilion Dayton is a space where everyone is welcome, and through the power of music, we realize we are more alike than we are different. Through education and outreach efforts, we are creating future generations of artists and lifting the voices of our youth through music. The video wall will provide a two-sided screen that would provide visibility not present to the Main Street side, allowing for opportunities of support that would help sustain the mission. The enhancements needed for a concession area also will help to support the mission long term, as this was not considered in the original construction.
As we continue to grow our audiences, which will translate to foot-traffic in the urban core and will contribute to the vibrancy of the businesses surrounding the venue, we will measure our success through growth in numbers. We have gone from an average of 700 people per concert to 1800 in 3 short seasons, meaning 2018, 2019 and 2021. We can see how our activation of this integral space in downtown Dayton will continue to help downtown thrive.
