Upper Riverdale is a known problem area for I/I and wet weather overflows.  The current construction of a parallel Interceptor relief sewer will help relieve Upper Riverdale on the downstream end which is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2024.  Upsizing some of the main arterial pipes through the Upper Riverdale system will also create system relief and flows will be able to reach the new main line interceptor with greater efficiency. There were three separate sewer upsizing projects identified in the Sanitary Master Plan (UR-U1, UR-U2, and UR-U6) and all three will be completed as part of this project.  In addition to the sanitary improvements, several critical transmission water mains exist in the same project limits.  These transmission water mains will need to be relocated and replaced for the construction of the new sanitary sewers.  This project currently includes both the design phase and construction phase work associated with the necessary improvements.
