Southeast Drainage Basin is a known problem area for I/I and wet weather overflows.  The recent completion of a Parallel Interceptor Relief Sewer will help relieve the Southeast Drainage Basin on the downstream end which was completed in 2021.  Upsizing some of the main arterial pipes through the Southeast Drainage Basin, as well as the addition of new trunk sewers, will create system relief and flows will be able to reach the new main line interceptor with greater efficiency. There were five sewer projects identified in the Sanitary Master Plan (SE-U1, SE-U2, SE-N1, SE-N2, and SE-N3) and all five will be completed as part of this project.  In addition to the sanitary improvements, other critical utilities owned by the Department of Water exist in the same project limit.  These other utilities will need to be relocated and replaced for the construction of the new sanitary sewers.  This project currently includes both the design phase and construction phase work associated with the necessary improvements.
