The purpose of this project is to support economic growth and development in the northern part of Montgomery County and surrounding areas of the Dayton International Airport by providing safe and effective transportation infrastructure along US 40 and the interchange at the Airport Access Road and US 40. This project will improve access to the industrial facilities that have recently located in this area by correcting design and safety deficiencies along US 40 between Union Airpark Blvd and Peters Pike and by improving the function of the intersection of Airport Access Road and US 40. The project improvements will also support focus on reducing congestion within the project corridor. This will also promote attraction for new tenants to locate within the area, as it will demonstrate to potential clients that the region is one of the few with the capabilities to service heavy logistical needs. Upgrading the current infrastructure to support the development will! provide an opportunity to recruit and compete for more companies to come into the area. The potential economic impact will be on a large scale and positively affect the region as a whole by providing numerous jobs and enhancing economic growth in our region.
The success of this project will be determined by the functionality of improved traffic flow and providing the supportive infrastructure necessary for the continuous development of 2,000+ acres of land in this area. The improvements will also create a landscape for other economic development in this area and further increase the amount of employment for local and regional impact.

We are unaware of any current positions in jeopardy as a result of the infrastructure improvements. However, U.S. 40 is a major collector providing access to multiple industrial parks in three jurisdictions. (Union Global Logistics Airpark, the Dayton International Airport, and Vandalia’s Stone Quarry Crossings). This is infrastructure is critical to existing businesses that employ over 2,000 people.
