Economic Development
Reconstructing Dayton TV
We are a nonprofit dedicated to promoting regionalism, local government transparency, and government efficiency that will spur economic development in the Dayton region. We achieve these goals by informing voters, conducting regionalism research, and by petitioning local governments to work together. Reconstructing Dayton TV is a YouTube channel we have established to provide voter information and to present information on regionalism.

Because we are a 501(c)4, we only qualify for a limited number of grants. Foundations with a political mission can and do contribute to organizations such as ours.
Community Details
With the demise of local news, Daytonians have few sources of information about local politics. For those living in Dayton suburbs or nearby townships, there are few sources of information about local political matters. We remedy this by producing video and written content providing analysis, commentary, and interviews pertaining to local political matters.

The Dayton region has also struggled to retain or attract businesses, and we largely attribute this to the lack of cohesion among our local governments. Cuyahoga county enacted regionalism with a county charter in (2009?) and since this time the city of Cleveland has experienced a downtown renaissance. Meanwhile, Dayton has attempted to revitalize its downtown with middling results. The community needs to think about economic development regionally if it is to retain and attract business.
We use analytics to quantify our community outreach. If our project is able to reach a sizeable portion of the electorate in the Dayton region and spur policies that enable regionalism we will consider it a success.

We currently employ three full-time and one part-time staff members. With additional funding we will hire firms for contract work and may add to our staff. Although we believe that the initiatives we champion will lead to many new jobs in the region, we would consider those to be “indirect.”
