Project of the Year: Economy Linen and Towel Service

Fourth-Generation Local Company’s Expansion Helps Meet the Needs of Demanding Healthcare and Hospitality Market

Abstract: In 2021, Economy Linen and Towel Service announced plans for a new expansion. The $20 million expansion project will create 70 new jobs in the Dayton Region. The fourth-generation local company has served the region for over 80 years. This expansion will streamline operations and expand Economy Linen’s ability to serve additional hospital and healthcare accounts.

In 2021, Economy Linen announced plans for a new expansion. The $20 million expansion project will create 70 new jobs in the Dayton area. The expansion will involve a 78,000 square-foot laundry facility at 2100 McCall Street in West Dayton. The state-of-the-art plant will be dedicated solely to healthcare laundry and linen services and will streamline operations and expand Economy Linen’s ability to serve additional hospital and healthcare accounts. The plant will use environmentally friendly equipment that reduces water and natural gas usage while delivering quality hygienically clean laundry. The facility is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2022.

With the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic, there is an increased demand for healthcare and the desire from hospitals and long-term care facilities to outsource their linen programs. Economy Linen provides medical linens necessary to operate a surgery center, dental office, hospital, retirement community, urgent care facility, and multiple types of primary care and specialty medical offices.

The Dayton-based company has served the community for over 80 years and has transitioned into its fourth generation of family leadership. The one-stop-shop for linen rentals and services has witnessed the growth of the Dayton region firsthand. Dayton’s medical community has become a leader in providing high-quality treatment and service. As this industry has evolved, so has Economy Linen. This expansion will allow Economy Linen to grow as a company providing a variety of jobs for the Dayton region.

“With the addition of this new facility, Economy Linen is well-positioned to continue providing the finest linen services possible in the healthcare sector well into the future,” said Jason Feldman, Vice President at Economy Linen. “We’re excited about the growth this project will create for our company and our community.”
