Dayton Region Economic Development Strategy

The Dayton Development Coalition and the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission are partnering with the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) to update the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for the Dayton Region. This strategy driven roadmap will strengthen and diversify our regional economy by identifying our regional goals.

The region’s history of innovation, aviation, and our hardworking spirit is the perfect foundation for our story. This process will establish our collective vision for tomorrow with a strong and resilient economy.

To do this, we need you! Watch the welcome video from Jeff Hoagland and Brian Martin, explore the resources, take the survey, and check back as we provide updates about the process!

Dayton Region Economic Development Strategy Progress Update

Launch the strategic planning process with a series of robust stakeholder engagement sessions to gain feedback on the Dayton Region’s Successes, Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations and Risks.

Gather and analyze data that tells the story of the past, present and future of the Dayton Region’s economy.

  • Data and Industry Cluster Analysis Summary

Using results of the stakeholder feedback, data analysis, SOAR assessment, and alignment of key partner initiatives, create a proposed list of strategic priorities.

Conduct outreach to all 13 participating counties, all key industries and related organizations to brainstorm objectives under each strategic priority.

Finalize the draft Dayton Region Economic Development Strategy plan document and seek public input.

Secure resolutions of support from all 13 participating counties, letters of support from all key industries, and adoption of the Dayton Region Economic Development Strategy by the Board of Directors for MVRPC and DDC.

Submit the Dayton Region Economic Development Strategy to the Economic Development Administration for approval.
