Selling the Dayton Region Internationally

Why Dayton? The founder of Fuyao Group, Cho Tak Wong, made international headlines when he announced in 2014 to open an auto glass operation in the former GM plant in Moraine, Ohio. “(T)he local people deeply impressed me,” Cho told the Dayton Business Journal. “The attendants there made us feel warmly welcome…we felt very much pleased and comfortable.”

The Dayton Development Coalition (DDC) and other local partners sell the Dayton Region across the world, and we have had a track record of success. The region’s six principal markets for target investment is Canada, China, Japan, Germany, Brazil, and Israel.

FDI in Ohio
In 2016, Ohio hosted 3,500 internationally-owned establishments owned by more than 1,000 foreign companies from 45 countries. Together, they employed 224,000 Ohioians with foreign direct investment increasing by 11 percent from 2015. Ohio is the seventh-largest international employment rate in the country.
