40. Community Need There is currently 1,196,000 linear feet of combined sanitary and storm water pipes within the Brookville, Clayton and Trotwood communities. These pipes are all buried under ground and serve approximately 43,489 regional residents. Many of this infrastructure is several decades old. Similar to other buried equipment throughout the county region, repairs and upgrades are a constant need each year. This infrastructure serves the region's community; it's residents but also the business sector and impacts thousands of jobs and millions of dollars of production if needed repairs aren't successfully diagnosed and repaired in a timely manner. This new camera system will be able to be shared between three jurisdictions, allow each municipality to respond to infrastructure emergencies immediately and determine the most appropriate and cost effective repair by locating the exact location of a failure. Currently extensive extra repair work and supplies are used when the exact location of a failure is unknown. Additional time and employee resources are used and repairs that could be made in hours or days can sometimes take weeks. This new camera system will allow our region to be much more efficient with not only our time but also our resources, allowing us to respond better for our residents and business community as whole. This system will make our community a better place to call home and a more attractive region to do business.
