American Veterans Lincoln Statue & Pavillion
The purpose of this memorial is to educate the nation on President Abraham Lincoln's signing into law to care for Civil War soldiers wounded in battle. And to tell the story of the American people's care for our nation's veterans. This will provide a place for reflection and healing, opportunities for educating students and future generations, and to create a national tourist destination point at the entrance of the forthcoming National VA History Center at the Dayton VA Medical Center.

This Lincoln Statue tells the Story of Americans caring for veterans and will attract visitors from around the world. Just as President Abraham Lincoln recognized the country’s obligation to honor and care for its Veterans, it is vital we tell the story of Americans history, preserve its legacy, and honor its dedication to providing and administering critical benefits for current and future Veterans. This memorial will educate the nation about the Central Branch of the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers (NHDVS) which was established in Dayton, Ohio, through legislation signed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1865. It was among three homes established for Veterans following the Civil War. The Central Branch was the largest of the branches and later became the NHDVS headquarters and is the foundation for what we know as the Veterans Administration. Today the campus is home to the Dayton VA Medical Center and the Dayton National Cemetery. Most importantly, the Dayton Campus is slated to open the National VA History Center by 2030. This Lincoln Memorial will be the gateway entrance to the History Center.
