Additive Manfacturing of Wrought Aluminum Alloys
This is a Dayton Regional Ecosystem for Additive Manufacturing project. The focus of the project is the development of methods and processes to Additive Manufacture with wrought aluminum alloys for use in applications such as bearings. Bearings have dual commercial and military applications. The success of this program will support the Air Force Material Command but also support the aerospace and automotive industries in Ohio.

The community of need is the Additive Manufacturing ecosystem that exists in the greater Dayton area an includes not only local small businesses but also the Air Force Materials Command. Execution of the program will enable the use of high-performance materials for use in Additive Manufacturing that can address several key Air Force and DoD operational needs and results in capabilities that can be transferred to commercial application that will grow the ecosystem.
